Maria Lenskjold’s practice is based on a consistent principle; to investigate and interact with the common pictorial artistic categories and challenge them in playful and unpretentious genre breaks.

Her ceramic objects and installations will often lead the viewer to recognize an implicit function, which on closer inspection is merely an abstraction, even a caricature of, for example, a vase.

With her works, Maria Lenskjold sets the craft and in-depth material studies above the functional lifestyle object and commercial interests, and lets the aesthetic experience be the object's primary function.

Maria Lenskjold (1981) graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Art in 2011, lives and works in Copenhagen.
