REVEAL PROJECT

-Passing on traditional Japanese culture to future generations-

REVEAL PROJECT was started by TATRAS designer Masanaka Sakao, who wanted to build upon his experience as a designer to pass on Japan’s history and tradition.

Taking advantage of the creative skills and network developed through TATRAS, we hope to position Japan’s unique techniques and tradition as a standard in the fashion industry worldwide.

REVEAL PROJECT will create a brand new brand concept that maximizes the value of Japanese culture from a creative perspective, by combining our knowledge and experience in all areas – from the basic thread, fabrics and materials, design sense, fashion and brand business, domestic and international sales, PR network, all the way to the production scheme.

Although it will not be an easy task, our quest is to highlight the strength and value of Japan’s history and tradition through the REVEAL PROJECT.

The driving force behind REVEAL PROJECT will be the spirit and passion of the Japanese craftsmen.

REVEAL PROJECT 1st collection: Silk jackets with exquisite hand drawn Kyo-Yuzen design

FW 18 Paris launch presentation in the American Cathedral

Untitled-1.jpg

This line came to fruition through the support of KIMURA SENSHOW, a renowned hand drawn Kyo-Yuzen kimono producer based in Kyoto.

Kyo-Yuzen involves more than 14 manufacturing processes including conceptualization, rough drawing, masking, brush dyeing and illustrations, each of which are often performed separately by craftsmen skilled in that particular process.

These craftsmen are still based in Kyoto and Kyo-Yuzen's "Kyo" means the city of Kyoto.

Each stitch, crest and dye was supervised by KIMURA SENSHOW as a complication of its craftsmen's senses and techniques.

The results are 7 beautiful silk jackets with hand drawn Kyo-Yuzen design. These Kyo-Yuzen pieces will be presented during FW 2018 PARIS FASHION-WEEK in March as an unisex collection.
