Mietis is a reflection of a familiar savoir faireThe family leather tanning tradition brought her back to Igualada where she opened her Atelier in which top quality leather is the essence, reinterpreted in a modern key.

Designer María Fontanellas was awarded the Generalitat de Cataluña National Prize for Emerging Design empowered by Desigual for the collection showed at Barcelona 080 20th Edition

Mietis Spring/Summer 2018 show took place on 27 June during the 2nd day of shows at Barcelona 080. Designs take fantasy, movies, futurism and motor worlds as strong and clear references to get inspiration from. Leather-crafted volume interplay shows a typical fragility and delicateness from childish characters such as Cinderella that collide with an antagonistic aesthetic: the garçonne strand. Mythicised beauty meets lighthearted influences from the 20s era where flappers are in the spotlight. Movies such as The Great Gatsby and Pretty in Pink meet a futuristic sphere thanks to the Architecture world.

The collection pays special attention to shapes and silhouettes through 60s designs. It also pays homage to the motor world and to the Grand Prix movie, which is also present in designs such as 'mini' pieces, biker jackets and trousers. Mietis Studio gets to unify different universes through a well-balanced collection.
